Coinless Change

5 - 27 September: Coinless Change – an exhibition of art by young people

The Young People involved in the Life Without Barriers Art Program present the exhibition ‘Coinless Change’.

When presented with the question: What kind of change can you see in your life that does not cost money? Some of the responses included: food, shelter, being taken care of when sick and hurt, and emotional change.

The paintings that have resulted over the last year are reflection of the subtle changes that have happened in these young peoples lives. The images include topics such as: memories of home, comments on social justice, and simply their ability to see beauty, even under some of the toughest of circumstances.

For all involved in this exhibition it is their first experience of creating and selling a work of art. It is also the first paid job for most. ‘Coinless Change ‘ is a project that aims to see changes occur for young people. Changes in their self esteem, changes in their views of the world and changes in their views of paid employment.

Coinless Change is an exhibition, which looks at the reality of Art as Social Action.
